Ep.5 | Innate Well-Being, Mental Ease & Harmony with Quinn Cashion - Episode 5

What if well-being isn't something we have to constantly chase, achieve, or maintain?

In this episode of The Harmony Principle Podcast, K. Miller sits down with Quinn Cashion, a therapist and personal life coach who explores mental well-being through an inside-out understanding of human experience.

Rather than focusing on techniques, strategies, or fixing ourselves, Quinn invites us to consider how our thoughts influence the way we experience life and how a greater awareness of that relationship can create room for clarity, ease, and harmony.

The conversation explores emotional well-being, parenting, the wisdom we can find in everyday moments, and what it means to live from a place of inner steadiness rather than constantly reacting to external circumstances.

In This Conversation

1. What if well-being is already within us?

Quinn introduces her understanding of innate well-being and explains why she believes our natural capacity for peace and resilience can become obscured by busy thinking without disappearing altogether.

2. Thought, Energy, and Awareness (TEA)

Quinn shares the three principles she uses in her work, looking beyond the content of individual thoughts to explore how thinking, awareness, and our internal experience interact.

3. What are our emotions telling us?

Rather than categorizing anger, sadness, or anxiety as feelings we should immediately eliminate, the conversation explores how we might recognize them, become curious about them, and respond with greater understanding.

4. What are we teaching our children about emotional well-being?

Quinn and K discuss the way parents model emotional responses, why behavior doesn't always tell the whole story, and how tending to our own well-being can influence the environment we create for our children.

5. Is harmony different from balance?

The conversation closes with a look at why harmony isn't necessarily about perfectly managing everything happening around us. It's also about the quality of our experience while we're living through it.

Takeaways From the Conversation

Your emotional state can change without defining who you are.

One of Quinn's most memorable illustrations is the sun-and-clouds metaphor. Our thoughts and moods can become stormy, but in her framework, those passing conditions don't erase our capacity for well-being. It's an invitation to recognize an emotional experience without making it our entire identity.

Children learn from how we respond, not just what we tell them.

K and Quinn discuss the relationship between a parent's well-being and the example they set for their children. Quinn shares how approaching her daughter's difficult behavior with greater understanding changed the interaction. K connects this to generational health and the patterns families pass along.

Harmony isn't another task to complete.

A peaceful moment during meditation, a walk, or a sunset can be meaningful, but what happens when we return to the demands of the day? Quinn encourages bringing that same awareness into ordinary moments, including those that aren't particularly peaceful.

These ideas are invitations to reflection, not replacements for appropriate mental health care or medical treatment.
